Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig Sept. 21 in 1983) is a well-known American actress. Particularly, she played Shannon Rutherford from ABC's Lost television show, and Kim Mills for the Taken Trilogy. Originating from Worthington Ohio, she dropped out of high school in order to relocate in Los Angeles with her mother after her parents divorce. Although she was struggling financially, her 2001 debut was acting as Rachel's Room's principal character. She went on to earn a Young Artist Award nomination in 2002, for her role as fifteen-year-old victim Martha Moxley in the television film Murder which aired in Greenwich. Grace appeared as Shannon Rutherford on the Lost television show in 2004. She was the main character for two seasons and won an award for her performance, a Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace left the television series in 2005 to focus on the role of a greater part in films, having appeared in the film Taken alongside Tom Welling as Kim Mills in the film Taken. The following year, she appeared as a character in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club and, opposite the Liam Neeson character Kim Mills as Kim Mills for Taken. The same character was played by Grace in Taken 2 and Taken 3 (both in 2012). Grace played the role as Shannon in two more episodes of Lost including the series finale. In 2013 she appears in the sixth episode of Californication. The character she plays is Faith who's both a star-gazer and groupie. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. Gyllenhaal is a member of her family and is the elder sister of Jake Gyllenhaal. When she was in her teens She appeared in small roles in films made by her father. She also she co-starred alongside her sister in Donnie Darko, a popular cult movie. Her next appearance was in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal's leading roles in Secretary, an erotico-romantic comedy, as well as Sherrybaby (a film) received her nominations for Golden Globe Award. The actress gained more attention for her role as Rachel Dawes, a superhero in The Dark Knight (2008), thanks to several successful commercial films she starred in the year 2006. The role she played in Crazy Heart as a mother with a single child was nominated for an Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. In the following years, she starred in comedies and dramas: Nanny McPhee & the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011 and Won't Back Down 2012. The other roles she's played included Secret Service agents in White House Down (2013, action thriller), musicians in Frank (2014 Drama The Kindergarten Teacher 2018) in addition to her role as the Kindergarten Teacher. Gyllenhaal wrote and directed her first feature film, The Lost Daughter in 2021. The psychological drama won Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. The Lost Daughter was also nominated for be awarded the Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
